The trial of Samuel Coovert, charged with the murder of the Roosa family at Deer field in !So4, is now in progress in the Court of Common Pleas of Warren county, in session at Lebanon. The witnesses introduced by the prosecution, the first day, were Mrs. Roosa and Jeannette Koosa, the only surviving surviving members of the family who were at home on the night of the murder; McSeal, the brother-in-law cf Coovert, and several others. It was proven that Coovert told about the murder in Morrowtown the morning after it was perpetrated, and several several hours before the arrival of the dailv Ta. pers containing accounts of it, and before any report of it by any other means had reached Morrowtown. Mrs. Roosa and her daughter did not positively identify Coovert as the murderer, but they thought he resembled resembled him.
