Fischer Wins U.S. Chess Title NEW YORK (CP) Brooklyn's Bobby Fischer won the United States chess championship for the second time in a row Sunday night by drawing his 11th and final match against Robert Byrne of Indianapolis. The 15 - year - old high school student was the only undefeated player in , the tournament. He had established himself strongly in first place Saturday night after an 86-move 86-move 86-move win over Arthur B. Bisguier, and he needed only a draw to clinch the title. He won six games and drew five. Samuel Rescevsky of Spring Valley, N. Y., drew with Paul Benko. a Hungarian refugee, after 14 moves..
