Many matters of great importance to the rodeos are to be discussed and possibly settled at the Rodeo Association of America Convention in Salinas. The expected strike by the Cow boy Turtle Association at the Den ver, Colorado, National ' Western Rodeo commencing January 11th, seems to have been , settled. The Turtles notified the Denver manage ment that they would not compete unless calf roping was added to the program and the Denver officials replied by refusing to do so. A wire received this morning from Bill Clemans, secretary of the Cowboy Turtle Association states that Denver has -now added Calf Roping. LB. Sylvester; of Monte Vista, Colorado, is the president of the association and will, preside at the convention in Salinas, January 23, 24, and 25, 1941. On January 11 Aubrey Edward Sloan and Elsie May Bryson were united in marriage .at the wedding chapel on Western avenue in Los Angeles. The following day at the Sloan home in Sloan canyon broth ers and sisters and their families gathered to bid the new daughter welcome to the Sloan family. A huge turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served to 24 guests. Mr. Carl Nixon, principal of the Castaic school has been ill and un able to be on duty.
