John Lewis Vance SALT LAKE CITY - Funeral services for John Lewis Vance, 81, of Salt Lake City, who died Tuesday of causes incident to age while in a Provo nursing home, will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Anderson and Sons Mortuary, American Fork. Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday prior to servjces. Burial will be in Alpine Cemetery. Mr. Vance was born July 11, 1892 in Alpine to Lewis Jefferson and Mary Frances Ferrell Vance. He married Julie Leah Hopkin on May 11,1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and they were divorced. He married Virginia Sandberg on Sept. 17,1941 in Salt Lake City, and she died Oct. 17, 1952. Mr. Vance was a retired employee of the Union Pacific Railroad. He had served an LDS mission to the southern states, and was a high priest at the time of his death. Survivors include one son and four daughters, Mrs. Dean (Leota Mae) Fillmore, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Raymond (Naomi) Jones, Salt Lake City; Joseph Clifton Vance, California; Mrs. Doyle Reed (Lucille) Thorne, Brigham City, and Kathleen Hopkin Vance, Arlington, Va.; six grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Harmon Vance and Angus Vance, both of Lehi, and Mrs. Orson (Zina) Gygi, Salt LakeCitv.
