" . / y r\ Mrs. Archibald MacLaren by a large majority, was yesterday elected president of the Woman's Civil league. Mrs. Mac- Laren has been prominently identified with the work of the league since its organization organization three years ago, and both as" chairman of her ward and as member of the council of the league, she has worked zealously for the success of those projects which the league has devised or championed. Besides a president, the following following fourteen directors at large were chosen yesterday: Mrs. C. W. Ames, Mrs. Alexander Barclay, Mrs. C. A. Dibble, Dibble, Mrs. J. W. Edgerton, Mrs. J. A. Wheelock and Mrs. George B. Young, of the Seventh ward; Mrs. A. R. Colvin and Mrs. H. C. Sachse, of the Eighth ward; Miss Banning and Mrs. A. J. Gillette, of the Fifth ward; Mrs. G. R. Metcalf, of the Fourth ward. These directors at large, with the president and the expresident, expresident, as an ex-offlcio member, will comprise the council of the league.
