Judge allows affair statement in trial FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A judge has declined to block a deposition from a man who says he had an affair with the mother of Adam Adam Walsh, the 6-year-old whose abduction abduction and slaying inspired a TV movie and a new federal law on miss- ingchildren. • Broward Circuit Judge J. Cail Lee ruled Wednesday that James Campbell's Campbell's sworn statement — in which he said he had an affair with Reve Walsh, that they discussed her getting getting a divorce and that he and the Walshes used cocafne and marijuana — should become part of the record in the couple's suit against Sears, Roebuck and Co. and the Hollywood Mall. The attorney for John and Reve Walsh said the allegations were lies, and Walsh lashed out at the attorneys for the store and the mall. "We will always be the parents of a murdered child, and these tactics just show how much they want us to drop this suit," said Walsh. The deposition was taken as part killed Adam, but he later recanted theconfessipn. The judge ruled that "annoyance and embarrassment" to the parents coufd not keep CampbeH's deposition from being made public in the suit. "The nature of those relationships certainly bear on this case," Lee said, ruling against the Walshes' motion to suppress depositions taken of them and Campbell. "The entire lifestyle of a family... is part of the essence of the trial." Campbell said he visited her home that morning. In her deposition, Mrs. Walsh she said she was alone with Adam. Company attorneys contend there was a 90-minute gap in her activities, and says witnesses reported seeing Adam at the store at 10:30 a.m., while she said she took him to the store at noon. In her deposition, Mrs. Walsh was not asked about the alleged affair.
