E. M. JOHNSTON HONORED. Last Thursday evening the Indipendent Order of Red Men, of this place held their regular weekly session at their hall and several candidates were initiat ed into the mysteries of the order, the regular business tran sacted and officers for the ensu ing term installed. This lodge is growing in numbers in this place to an alarming extent, far exceeding any other lodge of our town, and they are gathering up such members from among the best young men of our town. At the close of business last Thurs day evening, Albert Scherger, unsurmoniously stepped forward and asked permission for the oor for a few minutes, this was ranttd him. Only a few mem bers having in view his purpose, but he arose, stepped forward and in a few well chosen remarks presented" E. M. Johnston with a fine $10.00 Meerschaum Pipe. addorned with beautiful cold bands and sets. This was pre sented by the Brethren ; to Edward, as a token of the high esteem the brethren held for him, for the valuable and faith ful services he has served the order for the past six years as Keeper of Records and Seals. The event was a surprise to Ed ward but he highly appreciates the gift. Edward is not only a worthy member in the Red Men but is one appreciated ' by members members f other orders of which he is a member, as he is an inter- inter- j -esting -esting worker. .
