Weevil Count Down, Damage Up In Fields Only two boll weevils were lound on 1,000 cotton squares this week when F. F. Bondy, research entomologist, made his inspection of Robeson cotton fields. The entomologist's report to County Agent O. P. Owens showed ·weevils almost entirely absent from the sample fields inspected, but showed a marked difference in the number of squares punctured punctured in poisoned and unpoisoned fields. The only two weevils found were in unpoisoned fields. Oi.e hundred squares were examined examined in each of ten fields. The report was as follows: Toisoned Fields: No. 1--9 punctures 0 weevils No. 2--5 nctures 0 weevils No. 3--6 punctures 0 weevils No, 4--5 punctures 0 weevils No. 5 -3 punctures C weevils Unpoisoned Fields: No. 1--59 punctures 0 weevils No. 2--68 punctures 0 weevils -· No. 3--47 punctures 2 weevils No, 4--65 punctures 0 weevils No. 5--75 punctures 0 weevils
