Blairs Set Third Annual Sale * t ' ' __ Polled Hereford's Nov. 12 Third a n . n u a l "Oklahoma Criterion Sale" of Polled Herefords Herefords has been set by Lester Blair and ^sons,. Wesley and Ivan, for Monday, November ' 12, at the Blair ranch near Center. ' T h e Blairs, whose production sale last year was the 'top Polled Hereford .sale., in the state, are looking forward to an even more successful event. this year. - ."This is the best group of sale · cattle ',-we've ever had together," Lester says. And Wesley adds, "We've had more inquiries and requests for catalogs than ever before. It ought to be a good sale." States from which inquiries have been' received include Nebraska,' Nebraska,' Iowa. 'Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Louisiana, Pennsylvania -- and o£ course, Texas and 'Oklahoma. Beginning at 1 p.m., the Blairs will offer 52 lots for sale .to the highest bidder; Included · are 19 bulls and 33 females. These animals are all a result of the Blairs' line-breeding program to Domestic Mischief 6th, one of the great bulls in the Polled Hereford Hereford breed. Indicating the quality of the Blair offering is the fact that one of the present herd sires, Domestic Domestic Mischief 13th. was champion Polled Hereford bull at the State Fair at Muskogce and the State Fair at Oklahoma City this year. This same bull,- and one of his brothers, "were first place pair of bulls at both fairs. The Blair' herd was started in 1939 with the purchase of five heifers and a bull. Since that time the herd has grown,'through,pur- chase and natural increase, to present size of about 100 cows. The Blairs have worked consistently consistently to improve both their own herd ' and ' the Polled Hereford breed in general, by' careful selection selection 'of heifers for type, breeding breeding ability and milking ability. (It's a matter of pride at the Blair ranch that there are no nurse cows on tlic place. So the calves give a good indication of thei'.' mothers' milking ability.) Terms of the sale are cash, all animals guaranteed breeders, and all tested within 30 days of the sale for tuberculosis and. Bangs disease. Auctioneers will be Jewett M. ·Fulkerson and Phil Sanders.- Lunch will be available at the ranch on' sale day.--'
