A win that is but another milestone in young Easom’s sailing career. Now living in Sausalito, he spent his youth in Belvedere, started sailing at the age of 8 and winning races in a well- formed habit, much to the dismay of the competition. COPS IN SEASON DEBUT Tiburon Pelicans semi-professional baseball team opened the 1959 season yesterday by pounding out a 9-5 triumph over the San Francisco Police Department team at Tiburon. Right-hander Buzz Wens- loff went the distance for the Pelicans, giving up five hits. Eddie Vigno Jr. and Hal Owen each drove in two runs while Fred Thurman and Ken Anderson each collected two hits for the victors. The Tiburon double-play combination of Vigno at short and Bob Sapp at second turned in three twin- killings. Williams, Busby Hurt BOSTON UP — Outfielders j Ted Williams and Jim Busby, forced out of yesterday’s game j with Washington because of in-' juries, are expected to be ready j when the Boston Red Sox open j a series at New York Tuesday night. Williams pulled a muscle in his right leg. Busby bruised his right wTrist when he slammed into the wall chasing a triple. Both injuries were considered he real jolly to report that the ladies had again whup- ped their rivals in the 21ft Class. But, while the gals on both the “Top Banana” and “Gay Blade” gave it their all, and conditions were quite rugged, too, the race sheets reveal that they finished in third and fourth spots, respectively. The wind was strong and brought about some fast times and a couple of casualties as well. Two Star boats lost their masts off Angel Island, “The Hustler,” owned by Jihn Rumsey, Belvedere, and “Music II,” owned by Chris Sawyer of San Francisco. For two hours and 40 seconds it looked as though Dr. Nicholas Pedersen, San Rafael radiologist, was the sure winner in the Hurricane class. He led from the start and was but a few yards from the finish line and, blooie, the “Random” appeared out of nowhere and nosed him out by just 10 seconds. Recorder Don Seaton reported 252 boats participated in the big parade, an all-time record for a Corinthian Regatta. Yesterday’s winners: CLASS BOAT TIME P. I. C . Picsea ..................2:15:53 I.
