Thomas Milton Kirkland - A correspondent of the State Ch ron: icle calls...
A correspondent of the State Ch ron: icle calls on Gen. Cox to remove the postmaster at Chapel Hill. Thomas Kirkland. and to appoint a Democrat in bisplaee. From what we can learn Mr Kirkland fcas maoy friends a-mong a-mong a-mong the Democrats who prefer him to any Democrat who has ret petf- petf- tioned for the office. We also learn that the Faiulty of the University prefer Mr. Kirkland. Whether any of the above is true or not we d not know, and only say this much in order order that we may ask: Why is it that so many Democrats sign veil- veil- i ... tions to retain Kepnoiicansin omce and then abuse Gen Cox and write letters saying he is not true to the party becanse he does not have the very man removed, that they have said over their own signatures is a pood enough postmaster for them? We do not believe that there is a more faithful Representative in Congress than Uen. Cox. We believe tuat ne, will act promptly in this caae and in all others, where a majority of Democrats Democrats agree as to what they really do-want. do-want. do-want. The above is from the Orange Co. Observer. We know nothing of the circumstances concerning Mr. Kirkland, Kirkland, but we fully endorse the latter part of the article. Franklin Time ;
