Party CUSTOMS OFFICERS MAY FILE CHARQES AGAINST QALVESTON AND HOUSTON MEN Customs officials and coast guards last night brought to Galveston the launch Betty Patt of Seabrook, reputed to be the boat this side of New Orleans, following her seizure yesterday alleged customs violations. The specific nature of the offense not stated. It was intimated by officers following their arrival hero late iast night that charges had been or would be filed against well-known Galvestonians and Houstonians in connection with the seizure. Without definitely stating tho nature of these charges, officials declared the seizure of the Betty Patt was the result investigations extending over several months in the vicinity of Seabrook. Residents in that section, it was inferred, had been terrified severs! months by happenings in the vicinity of the place where Betty Patt was moored. Such escapades as wholesale shooting floating bottles and the like are understood to have brought the investigation which resulted in the seizure of tho vessel. customs Inspectors; Captain H. F. Headed by A. F. Scharff. special customs agent f r o m San Antonio, the s e i z u r e of the Betty Patt was made by a p a r t y of customs officials and coast guardsmen. I n c l u d i n g H. P. B r u n k e n h o c f c r . s u p e r i n t e n d e n t o£ cral men from the coast guard station on Pelican Spit and f r o m United States barge office. The · Betty Patt. was seized at about 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon afternoon after tho party had gone to Seabrook by motor. The customs I boarding launch Kalita convoyed the vessel back to Galveston nnd. It was understood, tied her up at the coast guard station. The launch Is said to be owned Houston and Is easily tho fastest boat In this section.
