LEBANON DAILY NEWS, LEBANON, PA, Receives "Wings Of Gold" Ensljcn Matthew V. Hoover, USA", son of the late Alrin H. Hoover, of 46 South Second Street, Womelsdorf, has been designated designated a naval aviator, and is shown above receiving his "wings of.gold" from his wife, the former Sylvia B. Kiphorn of AVom- eJsdorf, just before returning home on a few days leave. Their •on, Michael,'is seen looking on in the background. Ensign Hoover was presented his aviator's diploma at a ceremony conducted by Captain Jfonnan Kills,'.USX, Command- Ing Officer of the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christ!, Texas. A graduate of Womelsdorf High School in J943, Ensign Hoover enlisted in the Navy shortly therafter. He attended Northwestern University at Evanston, Illinois, as part of his training, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. Pre-flight and basic-flight training were taken at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Pensacola, Florida, with advanced training in multi-engine aircraft taken aboard the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas. Following his leave, Ensign Hoover will report to Westover, Westover, Massachusetts. ~ of to
