"THB MOST HONRBT JOB,' On tho 13th instant the Aldermon appointed Rob. Hill's candidate M. J. Iady, inspector of the construction of the new municipal building. Honest John French wanted Mark Phranor. Tho minutes containing the record of Dady's appointment woro presented to tho Mayor on tho 15th instant and have since beon returned to tho City Clerk. Tho resolution appointing Dady has beon neither approved nor disapproved, ihe usual ten days having expired, tho resolution haa become a law. The Joke of the matter ia that no provision baa been made for the payment of the inspect - oi'b salary. A resolution providiug for the appointment by the Special Committee of an inspector at a salary not to exoeed 11,200, waa first introduced by French on the 131b, lust., but it waa lost, and tho Board In making the appointment gava no directions about the Balary. French made tho place for his friend Phraner, who was beaten out of it. Honest John U delighted Wat no provision haa beon made for Dady'a salary, and, it ia said, he will endeavor to have tha resolution rescinded. There ia no neceBBlty for a special inBpaotor. The Department of City Works have Inspectors whom they could employ. Mr. Bogart, Mr. Jno, McCormack or any other of their experienced inspectors could do tbe work aa well. ' ! 1 j I
