Fern Bailey Announces Engagement Tho engagement of Miss Fern Bailey of this city to Harold Moore of Covington, Ky., was made known last evening when Miss Bailey entertained a party of sixteen friends at Ijer home on Langdon street. The house was decorated throughout In Christmas colors and greens, with red roses and polnsettas being used wlthi excellent effect. After spending an evening: playing bunco, the guests were Invited Into the dining room which was prettily decorated. decorated. Shortly after the guests were seated, "Buster" Burns, small son ot Mr, and Mrs. Earl Burns, entered the room, bearing a basket ot roses and presented a flower to each guest. Up on receiving tho roses, the guests found two red hearts, fastened to gether, hidden within the petals. The hearts contained the guests' fortunes When Miss Esther Joehl read tho In scrlption on her card sho found the announcement announcement ot the approaching mar rlnge of Miss Bailey to Mr. Moore in stead of her fortune. The hearts also contained the date of the • nuptials- Dec. 24. Following tho showering of best wishes on the bride-elect, tho guests enjoyed delicious refreshments served by Mrs. E. G. Bailey and Mrs. C. W. Bentley, mother and sister ot Miss Bnlley. Favors al bunco were given to Miss Melba OwBlcy, Miss Eslher Qulckcrl nnd Miss Esther Joehl. In addition to enjoying bunco, the guests were favored with musical numbers. Miss Bailey Is tho daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. G, Bailey of 629 Langdon street. Sho was graduated from tho Alton High School last year and since that time has served ns secretary to the district plant chief at tho Bell Telephone Company. Her flnnro Is the son of Mr. nnd Mrs. Joseph Mooro of St. Louis. Ho attended Washington Washington University in St. Louis »nd In now- taking advance work nt the Cincinnati Cincinnati University. Mr. Moore wns with Hlce-Stlx In St. Louis for somo time but Is now advertising manager for tho John R. Copplns Department Store In Covington. Ky. Mr. Mooro Is nt- tending tho University in addition to his position with the Covington HH house. Both Mr. Moore nnd Miss nnlley have many friends In Alton Alton who will 1,0 Interested in the nn- uounceinent of their engagement and wedding.
