Another farorite in the JETench' music halls is Maurice CheraKer who sings French songs rather inimitably. ' At the Empire recently he and his petite French nartner were giving their version of Mr, Gallasher and Mr.. SheanT I met M. Chevalier backstage during that engage ment and found him very . enthusiastic in very good English, too, about his con tract with Charles Dillingham. He hai had an agreement with Mr. Dillingham for some - time but because of illness his en gagement in New York was postponed last year. - "Now he may not get to America until 1925. .'it dependa on Mr. Dillingham's Dillingham's plans for him. Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks are also good friends of M. Chevalier. And it wouldn't sur - nrise me to see Chevalier playing opposite "Our Mary" in a film one of these days. gathered that they'd both like it, for certainly M. Chevalier should provp - a cinema nna lor Amreica. -
