History of the Sonoma Marin Fair - first manager Willard Herman Van Dyke, Sr.

The first district fair was held in 1936; "W. H. Van Dyke, agricultural teacher at Petaluma High managed the fair from 1936 * 1938." Willard H. Van Dyke was later the Principal of Campbell High School for 6 years and principal of Tamalpais High School from 1944 - 1949; he then led development of Sir Francis Drake High School and was Superintendent of the Tamalpais Union High School District before becoming a professor of secondary education at Long Beach State College. 12/7/1901 - 7/27/1978
