Charge of Assault teith Intent to Kill. Some- time about twelve o'clock on Saturday night a negro boy named William Waters was assaulted, by another named John Smith with a slung shot, or something of that character, by which a very severe wound waa inflicted upon his head. The affair occurred in Spring street, near Pratt. Officers Stalling and Harryman found the Injured party laying In the gutter, apparently Insensible, and took him to his home, where the sertgtces of a physician were called on. Theaccused was subsequently arrested by the officers and taken before Justice Audoun, who committed him to Jail to answer ine charge.
