FOUR ARRtSTED RFTEB ATTACK UPON STUDENT Suspects Jailed at Los Angeles As Robbers of Loma Linda Youth Near El Monte Vour men were under arrest in Is Angeles yesterday charged with the kidnaping and robbery of a Loma Linda man near El Monte Saturday night. The victim is Glenn Whitaker, a medical student at Loma Linda, who was severely beaten and kicked kicked by his assailants. The bandits were traveling in a car which later was identified as a machine stolen in San Bernardino. Sheriff Emmett L Shay said his office had been notified by Los Angeles Angeles police that four Mexicans were under arrest there in connection connection with the case, but the message did not give their names. PICKED UP ON ROAD Whitaker told officers he was waiting at the Five Points, highway Junction east of El Monte, Saturday Saturday night for some other medical students who had gone to White Memorial hospital in Los Angeles. They were to pick him up there, he said, and return with him to Loma Linda. As Whitaker stood at the roadside, roadside, four men drove up and asked him if he wanted a ride. He explained explained he was waiting for friend's. One of the Mexicans leaped from the car and pressed a revolver barrel barrel against Whitaker's ribs. "Well, you're going to get a ride anyway," the man told him. SEVERELY BEATEN Whitaker was forced into the back seat of the car, where his glasses were smashed and he was beaten about the face and head by two of the men. The car proceeded eastward, and finally came to a top on Covina boulevard near Dal-ton Dal-ton Dal-ton wash, in the vicinity of San Di-Bias. Di-Bias. Di-Bias. There Whitaker was taken from the car, thrown on the ground and kicked severely. His mouth was filled with earth, and one of the men then stepped on his face, to pack the dirt in, Whitaker said. The men took $5.25 from his pockets and fled. After Whitaker had been found, deputies from the San Dimas sub-Btation sub-Btation sub-Btation of the Los Angeles sheriff's office came upon a receipt which had fallen from the bandit's car, It bore the name of a San Bernardino Bernardino man, and the sheriff's office here was asked to investigate. REPORTS CAR STOLEN Sheriff Shay's deputies learned that the receipt was for a gas bill paid at a service station at Fifth and L streets by Vincente Carnejo, 940 Seventh street, but when they found Carnejo they were told that he had1 been visiting friends in Los Angeles all evening. His car, he eaid, was in possession of his son, Jesus, who earlier in the evening had reported the car stolen. Questioning of Carnejo and his on established their lack of any connection with the case, the heriff's office said, and Los Angeles Angeles police were then informed that the car had been stolen from young Carnejo, who was able to supply its license number.
