Joseph Watson and of to jurors. a to of Gl Forum Seeks 1971 Ball Queen The San Fernando Valley Chapter of the American GI Forum is seeking qualified queen candidates for the llth annual queen contest and Coronation which will be held at Carpenters Hall, 7500 Van Nuys Blvd., on April 24. The coronation ball is the highlight event of the year which raises most t h e s c h olarship which the San Fernando Valley Chapter awards each year. Raise Funds "Our chapter looks forward to this event," said president Bob Talamantes, "because we usually raise 10 of the 20 S125 annual scholarships." The American GI Forum, an organization of M e x i can-American veterans sole existence is to raise funds for scholarships. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need and oratorical contests. Qualifications for prospective queen contestants, who will be judged on beautj', poise and speech, are that they live in the San Fernando Valley, be 17 years old by July not over 21 years of age, be a high school, college vocational student and must file before the Feb. 15th deadline. Seek Sponsors The candidate selected as American GI Forum chapter queen will receive a $125 scholarship, reign for a year and will also participate for American GI Forum state queen contest this summer.
