0. W. Spiker Dead. G. W. Spiker died Tuesday afternoon afternoon at 5 o'clock at his. home. 721 Union slreel, after a lingering llness of about a year. Mr. Spiker was afflicted with apoplexy. He was So years old and hail been a 'csidcnt of Kansas many years. The funeral which was held today at the family home at J o'clock. G. W. Spiker was born ii: Har- •ison comity, Ohio, in i8_>8. He ived in his native state until 1884, when he came to Kansas, settling in a farm north of Emporia up lo lis removal to Fmporia. lie' joined the Methodist church when 14 years old, and has been a consislcnt and faithful member ever since. He leaves bis wife, and eight children, •ill of whom are living. Three of the children will not be able to attend attend the funeral tomorrow—Mrs. J. H. McFadden of Scioto, Ohio; John H. Spiker, of Chattanooga, Okla.; and W. D. Spiker, of Kinsley, Kinsley, Iowa. The rest of the children. R. S. Spiker, of Fremont township; Mrs. W, A. Givin, of Emporia; S. W. Spiker, of Jnplin. Mo.; D. W. Spiker, of Lynn county and Mrs. L. Washburn, of Emporia, arc all here.
