LETTERS To The News & Star: The attached picture of the late C. W. Lindsey was sent in by a granddaughter, Mrs. Worth B. House of Austin, daughter of the late S. J. Tilden Lindsey. Another granddaughter, Mrs. Earl Thomas and a grandson, A. B. Lindsey, reside in San Saba, as does Mrs. Audrey Spears, daughter of the late Walter G. Lindsey. The picture was made in front of the house in which he lived in Goldthwaite while serving as Deputy Sheriff of Mills County sometime between 1908-1915. I have noticed the column in the paper of old pictures of pioneer settlers and thought this might be of interest to you. If you care to use it please feel free to do so. The note on the back of the picture reads "Another of Dad and Dick and the old buggy." W. Lindsey was a Deputy Sheriff from 1908-1910 and was .elected constable of Precinct No^ 1 in 1912 and appointed to the same post in 1915. Lindsey was also elected to the post of San Saba County Tax Asses'Sor- Collector on Nov. 4, 1890 and took office on Jan. 1, 1891 and served until Dec. 31, 189C. Mrs. Georgia Bushwar of California spent a week recently with Mrs. Pearl Cantrell at Richland Springs and attended the Bowser Homecoming. Drug Abuse Group Meets In Killeen Members of the Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Drug Abuse Advisory Committee will meet Tuesday, August 5, in Killeen. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Counties Center for MH/MR at 100G Gray Street. Chairman Dr. Walt Paul will report to the committee on the public awareness activities. Mrs. Lea Ledger will make a membership report and there will be a report from the nominating committee and a selection of officers. Mrs. J. H. (Dorothy Ann) Baker of San Saba is a member of the committee representing San Saba which consists of 19 members.
