"Casey" Wins Another Softball They've passed out another championship to Earl (Casey) Gwaltney and his Elm St. club in Petersburg Church Softball League. This is the third time in five years that piloted by "Casey" have won league titles, and his team in 1956 also brought back to Petersburg the Virginia Sunday School title after a Richmond tournament. Earl did not manage the Elm streeters in and 1958--he was serving as an executive of the loop both of those · years. In 1957 he was vice president of the league and ascended to the presidency a year later. Elm Street won the league title in '56, '59 In the current campaign. How come that moniker of Casey has become attached to you? We put that question to "Well, I did the-same thing Mudville Casey in an important game at a crucial time," said pro Earl. "I struck out." Members of the championship Elm St. team Earl-Casey has guided to a third crown are: Marek, Eugene Riggs, Gil Wood, Forrest Eley, Branch, Dan Burkhalder, Herb King, Wayne King Bob Ovens, Ronnie Frink, Harold Wells, Gerald Mingca, Sonny Floyd, Ed Tatum, Gene lips and Stacy Davis.
