The Daily Nove ette BfN KM AM’S BRAINS. 1 Listen my children. Draw close near. Button your shoes And show no fear. N April, 1774, Binkman Tootle, head packer at the Minute Men’s Powder works, about 450 miles from Philadelphia, was packing a 20 -pound box of gunpowder, each grain stamped with the famous firm’s initials. “Goodness, it’s a cold day for Api'ii,” muttered young Binkman as he mopped the colonial perspiration from his high brow. Absently he struck a match on his trousers' and dropped it in the box of powder. The match went out, and young Binkman absently struck another and dropped that in. There was a terrific report, the box was blown in u million splinters, and Tootle was hurled through the roof and landed on the weather vane. “An idea!” he cried, as he thoughtfully picked the splinters out of him.» “I’ll found the world’s first toothpick factory!” W'hich he did, the following Thursday, and the famous house of Tootle Brothers is turning them out to this day.
