CALLED SHEOAH, an Australian aboriginal name for Oaks, the course is part of Florida Land Company's 553 acre planned unit development of single family residences, apartments and town-houses. North Orlando Mayor Granville Brown said he believes Sheoah will add much to the community, attracting development and improving the economy. But Sheoah is not the only 18 hole golf course proposed for North Orlando. Winter Springs, a 3,000 acres development east of the city on Tuskawilla Road is seeking annexation. Part of the Winter Springs development calls for an 18 hole golf course on 180 acres of land. WINTER SPRINGS developer William Goodman said construction should begin in about 120 days. The developer said the area will always remain a green area for recreation. Sheoah however, is required to remain an 18 hole public course for only 10 years, according to Harold Murphy of Florida Land Co. After that, retention of the course is up to the owners, Murphy added.
