Herman Volkers, steward of the brig Percy Edwards, committed suicide yesterday about noon by shooting himself in the abdomen with a rifle. Fred Bethel stole a lot of wearing apparel from -a lodging house, at 1300 Stockton street, Monday morning and was arrested by Special Meintyre. Frank Heller is again in the elty prison. He escaped last Wednesday, but broke Into a room at the American Exchange and stole several articles. He is now charged with burglary.
