Erick O. Lindblom, Head of Hotel Claremont, Dies at 71 Erik O. Lindblom, 71, who rose from itinerant tailor to president and chief stockholder of the Clarehotel Berkeley, yesterday following a long illness. Lindblom was an itinerant tailor in Sweden before coming to this country, Here he followed the same trade, finally settling in this city 1894. •Then came word of the discovery of gold. Anxious to get to the gold fields, Lindblom became a sailor. When he arrived in Alaska he deserted the ship and joined a party of prospectors. Lindholm struck it rich. He discovered a pocket of the yellow metal on July 13, 1898, on the site of what is now the city of Nome. organized Pioneer Mining company and tithe returned here a wealthy man. He made frequent trips to Alaska up to 1914. Lindblom married Mrs. Hanna Sparman of Oakland in 1907. He had know her since, she was a girl of 12. His widow and three children, Brita, a daughter, and Olof and Erik Jr., sons, survive. Funeral services will be held under Masonic auspices tomorrow at the Truman Undertaking company chapel in Oakland.
