BUCHANAN CLAN HOLDS REUNION; 114 PERSONS ATTEND Ths fourteenth annual Buchanan Buchanan reunion was held at Latin Grove Park near Mapleton on August 22, with 114 persons present present for the noon picnic luncheon. Isaclore Burnhamer of McVeytown McVeytown had charge of the program which, consisted of group singing, singing, duets and solos. There were peanut and lollipop scrambles for the children and horseshoe pitching' contests for the grown-ups. Much interest, was shown in the family tree drawn by Mrs. Mae Buchanan and • Sherman Buchanan representing the descendants descendants of John Buchanan, William William Buchanan and Stephen Buchanan. Buchanan. All present helped to fill out the names where they belonged belonged on the limbs of the tree. Prizes were awarded to the following: following: oldest man, James Buchanan Buchanan of Mapleton; oldsst lady, Mary Buchanan of Mapleton: traveled the farthest to attend, Leon Fisher of Port Hancock, New Jersey; youngest child, Robert Robert Noll, Jr., six-mojith-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Noll of Lewistown, R. D., and also six- month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gill of McVeytown, R. D.; youngest bride, Mrs. Dorris Gill; largest family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Irvin of Mount Union. The following officers were elected: president, Charles Buchanan Buchanan of McVeytown, R. D. 2; first vice president. Andy Buchanan, McVeytown, R. D.; second vice president, Sherman Buchanan, Mapleton; 'treasurer, Mrs. May Buchanan, Mapleton; chaplain, the Rev. Robert Gibson, Everett; reporter, Mrs. Clifton Montgomery Montgomery of Mapleton; secretary, Mrs. Ora Sundei-land of Lewistown, R. D.; music, Isadore Burnhamer of McVeytown. The next reunion will be held fourth Sunday Ln August. 1955, at Kishacoquillas Park, near Lewistown. Lewistown. Persons were present from McVeytown, McVeytown, R. D., Lewistown, Lewistown, R. D.. Blizabethtown, Newton Hamilton, Mount Union, Hummellstown, R. D., Shirleysburg. ft. D., Granville. Fort Hancock, N. J,, Everett and Mapleton.
