Mystic Dolphin Still Suffering From Infection MYSTIC A rare dolphin that survived an apparently illegal shipment remains in poor condition, suffering from a severe ulcer and an infection, a spokeswoman at the Mystic Marinelife Aquarium said Thursday. Laura Keezer said aquarium aquarium officials suspect the surviving surviving Commerson's dolphin also may be plagued by numerous numerous parasites. The female dolphin continues continues to appear listless and, although although eating, is unable to digest food properly, Ms. Keezer said. She said the South American American dolphins have developed a capability to survive parasite parasite infestation. She said, however, the "incredible stress" of the shipment from Argentina to New York last month may have increased the mammal's susceptibility to parasites. The National Marine Fisheries Fisheries Service is attempting to fine a Japanese firm for trying to ship the mammals through New York to Japan. 10
