One day you didn't even know there was such a thing and the next day- it seemed as if there was hardly an unoccupied flagpole any where in the country while the flagpole sitters hung up attending records for nonstop roosting, staying up sometimes for two or three weeks. Personally, we heard a good deal of criticism of this. Time and again we heard people say, "But what'i it FOR? The poor simp ain't proving anything sitting up there, is he? He ain't getting anywhere, is he? What's the use of it even if he parked up there for six months? Now Lindbergh, for instance, he went some place, but if you ask me, I think a flagpole sitter is half-witted, that's what I think." ;I ' V ! : 1 j ( ...1.4 . ' ' ' ' i y , ' i - ( DESIST W. J
