The selection of a representative as Carnival Queen for the city of Mueko- kee at the Fort Smith Street Pair has begun and last Friday the first. Votes were cast for various candidates and whose voting strength has increased lately, while a few of the candidates first named have withdrawn from the race. There are some eight or ten voting places, ballot boxes having been placed in the stores of Huraha & Snaulding, Turner Hardware, Patterson Mercantile Company, Muskogee Drug Co., Leo Wilson, Milo Adams, the Elks rooms and Depot Hotel, while any ona who buys a thousand votes may secure a ballot box for their place of business. The ballots are retailed out in single votes at live cents each while if you buy 1000 votes you can secure them at three cents. 500 votes at three and a half cents each, and 250 votes nt 1 cents each. Something like two hundred dollars worth of ballots have been sold already by the committee and the young lady who represents Muskogee will have one of tho finest of tho electric floats in the parade while all her expensos will be paid while away and her ticket to and from Ft. Smith, besides she will bo one of tho contestants for a fine 8150 rubber tire buggy winch is to be given to tho most handsome Queen of all the twelve towns represented and will II I BO be tho guest of the city of Fort Smith while thore who will see that Bhe is highly entertained.
