John Douglas Lyons 78, of Oro Valley, passed away on August 2, 2015 while in Park City, Utah. John (Jack) was born in Boston, Mass. to Nathaniel P. Lyons and Jane Barnet Lyons. Jack is survived by his wife of 40 years, Martha W. Lyons; beloved children: Douglas (Susan) of Chicago, Katherine of Baltimore, Jennifer of Phoenix; and sister, Patricia Graves of Seattle; and his beautiful grandchildren: Carter, Nathaniel and Grace. Jack graduated from Buckingham, Brown and Nichols School in Cambridge, MA. He went on to receive a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School with a degree in Economics. After a brief work time, he graduated with Distinction from Michigan State University with a MBA. His work career involved working for the Ford Motor Co., Harbridge House Consulting, American Optical and Cushman-Wakefield Cushman-Wakefield Cushman-Wakefield Real Estate in New York. He moved with his wife Martha to Tucson in 1992 and they purchased Foothills Properties Management, which they sold in 1998. Together with Martha, they traveled to many countries where they indulged their love of history and other cultures. Jack loved bridge, tennis, hiking, music and yard projects. He loved classical musical and served for five years on the Tucson Symphony Board of Trustees on several committees. Jack was a devoted fan of all New England sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. A private memorial for Jack will be held at a later date.
