'Moose' struts to victory in Kennel Club show By SUSAN JEFFRIES '" Courier-Journal A Times Dos Writer .--'."An eight-month old West Highland v White Terrier puppy strutted all the way lo best in match over 266 contenders at 2 yesterday's Louisville Kennel Club puppy match held at the Fairgrounds. ." "The young Westie, Jim O' Jen's Man Man, better known as "Moose," is owned by breeders Jim and Suzanne Bolus of C Jef fersontown and was handled by Su- zanne. The victory was shared by Virginia Frederick, owner of the pup's sire, who was nearly as excited as the owners. "He moved beautifully and had a very alert attitude," remarked judge Robert Bishop of his best-in-match selection. "I was also considering the Springer Spa-'. niel, but the Westie won out," he said. Relative new-comers to the world of dog shows, the Boluses bought their first Westie in December, 1970. Although the pup was to be a family pet, Suzanne had ideas of showing and began attending shows and matches. In September, 1973, : when "Moose" was only two weeks old, ." "he was chosen as the best pup in the iitter of four. "He was outstanding be-: cause of his bone," claims Suzanne. "Of ' course, we had to wait to see how his gait ;' would be, but even at two weeks he had lone." I ; The little white terrier had his work cut out for him in the final go-around for best in match. He was pint-sized against j.. the Irish Wolfhound, Springer, Old Eng lish Sheepdog, Dalmatian, and the only other dog close to his size, a Pug. A dog that goes all the way to tops at a match or show must have that special charm and showmanship, though, and the Westie certainly had it yesterday.
