in Her-rgott; Der-wood, 5 JOHN JOSEPH MC GUIRE.79, of Rahway, whose sons live in MONMOUTH COUNTY, died Monday, March 24, at home. He was a motorcycle police officer for 20 years with the Jersey City Police Department and retired in 1974. He served as special assistant assistant to the mayor of Jersey City at that time. He served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner's mate in troop transport during World War II from 1940 to 1944. He served in Normandy, the Philippines and England and received received an assortment of medals during the war. He belonged to the Disabled American Veterans-Commanders Veterans-Commanders Veterans-Commanders Veterans-Commanders Club and the PBA of Jersey City. Born in Scotland, he moved to Ireland before coming to the United States at age 14. He lived in Jersey Jersey City for 57 years before moving moving to Rahway 14 years ago.
