Speculation Is rife among the miners miners of experience as to what was the cause of the explosion. It deems to be the general belief that the trouble was caused by what is usually known as black damp. It Is the opinion of the miners that someone must have put. off a shot which "blew out" and thus Ignited the gas. Such opinions are mere speculations, however, and the real cause of the disaster will not be known for sume time, if ever.
