On motion of Recorder Bright, it was Rtsolved, That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, requested to confer with the members of the Coun cil, and recommend the reonactment of the ordinance by virtue of which slaves and people of color under arrest and confined in the police jail were employed in the service of the city ; this Board being clearly of opinion that the repeal of said ordinances has been injurious, to the master, the slave, the free persons of color, and the public in general. The following persons were, on motion of Recorder Ramos, appointed on the Second District police : L. Roux, rice L. Massel, resigned ; Daniel Hall, vice W. Baldwin, resigned. Day Supernumerarus. John B. Gaines and P. Willman. flight Watchmen. Victor Lavigne, rice A. Mon - toro, absent four months ; Michael O'Boy, vice 1. Gonzalez, resigned. Wight Supernumeraries. Thomas Boyle, Louis Marie Pelletier, Jlonore Faure, Antoine Caudeline, James Gallagher, Jacob Stolz, Blaceat Bcrtrand and Francis Biani. The following persons were, on motion of Recorder Jackson, appointed supernumeraries in the FourthtDiatrict police : OVilliam O'Brien. Joseph Uzee, John Sweeny, Jacob lieirch and Henry Debertech. On motion of Recorder Jackson, the Board adjourned to meet on Thursday next, the 11th inst., at 12 o'clock. A true copy : G. W. LEWIS, Secretary.
