New Democratic Party Leader Jack Layton calls the size and scope of the projects staggering and said the environmental problems are being left for future generations. “It’s unfathomable what’s going on here,” said George Poitras, a former chief of the Mikisew Cree First Nation in Fort Chipewyan. “While we don’t disagree disagree that the resources should be exploited for human consumption, consumption, we are saying it should be done in a way that’s manageable, responsible, sustainable. sustainable.
