The sale includes an extra lot to the north abutting the property of the Dalton Outing Club. Mr. Schnopp plans to install underground underground storage tanks for fuel oil on the property. The Duquette Agency of Dems Duquette and his lather John W. Duquette, handled the sale. The house was moved ontq its present foundation around 1920. Previous to that time it faced Main Street opposite the site of the present present Bob's Barber Shop. Once a Boarding Houe It was once a boarding house for woolen mill workers who entered thiough the basement in the rear. A foot bridge across the nearby brook led to the mill. An early rumpus room existed in the basement basement which was equipped with card tables and biass cuspidors. The house was moved across Main Street and up Daly Avenue by the late Frank Daly and the late Lon Johnson. Mr ? Daly was a contractor contractor in charge of projects for Sawyer-Regan Co., who at that hme owned the house. The move was one of the last for Mr. Johnson, Johnson, who was locally famed for number of local dwellings now on sites some distances from original construction thanks to the genius of Mr. Johnson. The houses were moved on wooden rollers vv^th power supplied by a mule walking in circles, turning a windlass to inch the house along as the connecting rope aiound the drum. Electric wires were down during the move and highway traffic detoured for a couple of days. Before the crossing of the trolley tracks, the Berkshire Street Railway Railway stationed a small outdated "hinkey-dinkey" car on the far side of the job and during the work, shuttle service was provided for passengers from Pittsfield who were transferred for the remainder of the route to Dalton Center or Hinsdale.
