THE NATIONAL Park Serv- First Mayor Of Sunset, Grocer Dies other aid Special to The Tribune SUNSET, Davis County—Leroy County—Leroy B. Smith, 72, past president of the Utah Retail Grocers Assn., died Monday in an Ogden hospital, hospital, following a short illness. Mr. Smith was the first mayor of Sunset, and from 1935 to 1936, le served as president president of the Utah Retail Grocers. Prior to that, Mr. Smith had been Mr. Smith president of the Ogden Grocers Assn. He was an organizer and charter member of the Associated Associated Food Stores Inc. THE BUSINESSMAN owned and operated a grocery store and wholesale petroleum business business and was president of Smith Brothers Co., Sunset. Active in civic affairs, he was president of the Davis County School Board in 1955 and served as director of the Weber Basin Conservancy District. MR. SMITH was bom Feb. 25, 1892, in Kaysville, a son of William E. and" Jane Blencowe Smith. He married Sylvia Stoker Stoker Oct. 26, 1911, in Kaysville. The marriage was later solemnized solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Litter-day Litter-day Saints. The former mayor was an active active member of the LDS Church, having served in the North Da- j vis Stake High Council and as a bishop of the Sunset First Ward. SURVIVORS include his widow, two sons and two daughters, daughters, Keith S., Salt Lake City; Howard B., Layton; Mrs. Lou Jean Waynwnt, Sunset; Mrs. Marjorie Cowley, Oakland, Calif j Mar Jo rie Cowley, Oakland,' Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 10 • trreat-grandchilrtren; sister, Mrs.! Zella Smith, Ciearfield, ! FUNERAL services will be conducted Thursday noon, at the Sunset First LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Clearfield Clearfield Mortuary Wednesday from 7 to & p.m. and Thursday until 11:15 a.m. Burial will be in the Kaysville-Layton Cemetery. " Mi Salt Ely
