Alton Native Dead In West Jesse Stanley, 75, native of Upper Alton who left here thirty years ago and has been residing in California since, died Friday night at 8 o'clock In Petaluma, Calif., his home. The funeral of the former Alton man will be held In California tomorrow tomorrow and burial will take place there. Word of the death of Mr. Stanley Stanley came to his daughter, Mrs. Charles Currlns, at her home, 1121 Seller street. Mr. Stanley's wife died five years ago. Besides the daughter, Mrs. Currlns, there Is a surviving son, Harold Stanley, Stanley, of Alton. Jesse Stanley was a member of a fnmily well known in the north end of Upper Alton for many years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stanley. The old home of the family was located located at Salu and Humbert streets which, for the last thirty years, has been the site of George Hair's store. Of a large family, the death of Jesse Stanley leaves but three survivors, Mrs. Mabel Clark, the widow of Elmer Clark, formerly of Brown street, and her twin sister, Mrs. Mayme McQulggan. of Onkrun. Calif.,.and Charles Stanley who has lived In California more than forty years. Walter Stanley, another member of the family, died .many years ago In California and Harry Stanley died here a few years ago. Mrs. Chas. Moe, another another member, passed away a few years ago and Mrs. August Sims died In Alton during the past winter. Charles J. Currlns, jr., of Alton, is the only grandchild.
