Orchettra: 8:15, ReliefOrgani/ationGuides Others: Girl Scouts Help WOOD RIVER, Dec. 23.—Local organttatlons were preparing today for a combined effort tn the distribution of Chrlitmas Rifts, food, and cheer amonj? the homes of the local unemployed, as well as among a few local residents outside of the city. Girl Scouts, who have been repairing and classifying toya which they, themselves, have gathered, and which have been turned In to them by other organizations holding Christmas party gift exchanges, were brlnginR their work to the point where the gift* would be distributed among the homes Saturday. In the distribution they will be guided by a list, which Mrs. M, P. Manning, office secretary of the township relief commission, will provide for them. Mrs. Manning said that while the list was fairly complete so far, names were still coming In for It, so that the exact number of children helped to a better Christmas would not be available for at least another day. Stockings, underwear, trousers, and material for bloomers and dresses received from the federal government will be distributed, to families through the relict organization. Mrs. Manning announced also that groceries and other food gathered by local organizations and turned over to the relief commission would make It possible to give each family served an addition to Its regular allowance for Christmas day. The Wood River .Woman's Club plans to send gifts to 14 Wood River residents who are patients in the Madison County Sanltorium in Edwardsvllle. In 1
