Three hundred and sjven thousand francs in gold, rolled up in wrappars of tho Monittur newspaper of the timo of tho Re volution, were discovered last April by a carpenter in the wall of a bouse at Dijon. Dr. .Chanut, the owner - of tho house, claimed tho money, but a counter - claim was set up by the descendants of the Vicomte de Moussier, who owned the house at the timo of the Revolution, and memoranda in whose handwriting were detected on tho wrappors. The Dijon Tribunal his just decided in their favour, on the ground that their ancestor must have hidden the money between 1704 and 1810 ; for reasons unknown.
