Rites Held Today for Dr. Mahoney Funeral services for Dr. James E. Mahoney, Wood River dentis and former president of Illinois Dental Society, were conductec this morning in St. Kevin's Church at Rosewood Heights, of which he was a member. Solemn Requiem High Mass was sung by the pastor, the Rev Father Frank O'Hara. The dea con was Father Paul Heinen o Jerseyville, and the was Father James A. subdeacon Suddes in Alton. In the sanctuary was Fath er Thomas Hallahan, S. J. of St Louis. The sermon was preachec by Father O'Hara. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville, where rite! were read by Father O'Hara. Previous to the services thi body was at Marks Mortuary Wood River. Active pallbearers, all member: of the dental profession were Drs. Paul A. Maley, Ralph Dick son, Charles Hcmphill, all of Al ton; Drs. R. E. Baumann of High land, Earl Sheppard of St. Louis and Phil Ritter of Jerseyville. Members of the dental profes sion, and leaders in civic and pro fessional life, formed an escorl They were: Dr. Walter Witthofft W. I. Jolly, Douglas Knowles Ralph Volz, Francis J. Manning Jess Wilson, Joseph Connors, for mer Mayor James Delany o Wood River, Joseph J. Drom goole, Lucian Ringering, Leonard Kesl, Judge Joseph J. Barr, Wil Ham Hanselman, Don Hale, H. V Boehl, E. V. Giehl, and Dan Dav is of Natick, Mass. A capacity congregation attenc cd the services. Representative of the dental profession from many cities attended the funera as did representatives of publl and civic life. Dr. Mahoney ha been a leader in many Wood Riv er civic <md fraternal groups.
