i Annexation Election Set At Wood River EDWARDSVtLLE. — County Judge Michael kintiey today signed an order calling for a referendum in Wood River on Sept. 17 on the question to annex a 74-acro tract to the city. The tract is located north of the present city limits and extends along Rt. 159. Triangular in shape, it includes the Wood River city dump area of about 29 acres, as well as Pennlngroth Addition and Wuellner place. Arguments were presented before Judge Kinney last week by Marshall Smith of the Wood River law firm of Cox, Smith and Basset, representing the petitioners and by Attorney Francis Manning of Wood River, counsel for the objectors. Preliminary hearing on sufficiency of the annexation petition was begun before Judge Kinney on April 4 when the group objections were filed. Dismissal of the petition was sought by the objectors who, in the alternative, asked the court to 'order the question of annexation submitted to referendum vote in the tract involved.
