TwilaM. Knight Twila M. Knight, 65, Hays, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Hays Medical Center. She was born Dec. 22, 1940, in Pfeifer to Wendelin and Anna (Schmidt) Schumacher. She attended the Pfeifer and Hays schools, and had also lived in Wichita and Arkansas City. She married Dewane Ewert on June 4, 1957, in Pfeifer. She later married Donald Knight on April 18, 1970, in Wichita. He preceded her in death April 15, 1997. She served as a police officer for the Wichita Police Department and retired from the Kansas Highway Patrol. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Eagles Auxiliary, both of Hays, and former member of Shooting Stars Square Dance Club, Russell. Survivors include five sons, Doug Ewert and wife, Melinda, Hays, Craig Ewert and wife, Mary, Lee's Summit, Mo., Michael Ewert and wife, Donata, serving in the U.S. Navy at Fort Suse, Iraq, Shawn Knight and wife, Angle, Haysville, and Shane Knight and fiancee, Heather Stockton, Flagstaff, Ariz.; two daughters, May Schumacher and husband, Pat, and Cynthia Pfeifer and husband, Mark, all of Hays; a stepdaughter, Donna Taylor, Wichita; four brothers, Lavern Schumacher, Dennis Schumacher and Wendelin "Wendy" Schumacher Jr., all of Hays, and Arlyn Schumacher, Victoria; and 19 grandchildren, Andrea Carver, Nick Schumacher, Jared Schumacher, Anna Pfeifer and Faith Ewert, all of Hays, Aaron Pfeifer, Kansas City, Mo., Gerald Pfeifer, Paduka, Ky, Justin Roth, San Francisco, Cameron Roth, Seattle, Wash., Lindsay Ewert, Corey Ewert and Kelsey Ewert, all of Lee's Summit, Tracy Ewert, Ivan Ewert, Robert Ewert and Giordana Ewert, all of Lakehurst, N.J., and Taylor Knight, Tara Knight and Tiffany Knight, all of Haysville. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shaney Renee; a stepson, Donald Steven^ Knight; and a brother, Verle Schumach......... ice's will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Church, Pfeifer; burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with Eagles Auxiliary service at 5:30 p.m. and parish vigil service at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, all at Brock's North HiU Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.
