GOT INTO TROUBLE. C. W. Mailiesou Knocked Child Down Willi Automobile and Was Fined by Burgess Mitten. Driving his automobile down. Wy oming avenue last evening about 7:15 o'clock, C. W. jiainraun, general man - ager of the , Matheson . Automobile Works, at Dorranceton, and a member of the firm, ran into and knocked down David Schainuckj the: nine - year - old son of Mr. and Mrs,. Benjamin Svhainuek, of Wyoming avenue. As a result of the accident, Mr. Matheson was caken before Burgess Mitten and fined $10 on the charge of driving a car without a license number. A number of people, including one of the borough police ofT - cers, who afterward took the automobilist in charge, witnessed ;Tie accident, and it is stated that the driver was not to blame for the occurrence. He had driven his car across the Ferry bridge and slowed down as he rounded the corner into Wyoming avenue, when the Schainuck child ran into the path of the machine and was knocked over. Mr. Matheson instantly stopped the motor and took the child from beneath the car, where he was held. The bov was somewhat bruised and scratched, but was not seriously hurt. Mr. Matheson carried ' him, more frightened than hurt, into the Schainuck home, and Dr. McFadden was summoned. While this was going on, one of the borough police, in glancing over the car, found that it bore no li cense number and accordingly inform ed its driver that he was under arrest When taken before Burgess Mitten, Mr. Matheson paid a fine of $10 and was dismissed.
