Hawley, the smallest school In jthe HOL. is also the smallest I school to hold the District 23 and Region 6 crowns- It placed Dick Riedberger, Ron Hendrickson and Lee Gilbertson on the dis- ? I trict team, the former two on ' I the Region team and Riedberger on the state tournament team, jfhe following year, Bolger's Nuggets advanced to the district Fergus Falls, Aitkin, Mankato and Wheaton. Two of the losses decided in the final seconds — were to defending state champion Austin, and Granite Falls when it went to the state. Bolger is a native of Moorhead where, as a junior, he played on the Spuds' last state tournament team in 1953. He is among the very few Minnesotans who have both played and coached in the state classic.
