(Mike) Jones, son of Ezra B. and Florence O. Jones of 500 Twelfth street, has been promoted to rank of second lieutenant in the army, his parents Â·were 'informed this past week. Lieut. Jones is stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va., where he has been for the past three months. He formerly stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., in the engineer corps, and entered the service in June, 1941. He is a grandson of Miles L. Jones, former Ogden city commissioner who is now a member of city board of education. IJEUT. (J. G.) COLLETT Ferrell Collett, art instructor in Weber college, Â·Â· was granted leave of absence for the duration to accept a commission as lieutenant (junior grade) U. S. N. R. He will report for duty September 8. Mr. Collett made application for camouflage designing. He is' the second member of the faculty to enter the service. He was preceded by Captain Glenn Z. Neilsen. Lieut. Collett came to Weber college after a rather distinguished service in the Provo and Ogden tiigh schools. He won the Provo junior chamber of commerce distinguished service award given to the man who rendered the ' most outstanding service to Provo that year. Lieut. Collett has done graduate work at the. Chicago Art institute and the California School of Fine Arts at San Francisco. Later he was one out of seven from 1500 applicants to receive a contract from Walt Disney. in winter.
