Oyster Bay Center For Seamen Closes Oyster Bay, Oct After more than tlre years of opera tlnn, the rest center for American Merchant Seamen on the estate of Mrs. Ker-mlt Ker-mlt Ker-mlt Roosevelt here closed yesterday. Since Sept. 10, 1942, the day It opened, the center had effected the recuperation of 1.611 seamen suffer-. suffer-. suffer-. ing from war Incurred Injuries and shock. As a result of appropriate medical treatment, plus games and other amusements designated to help the seamen relax, the men were returned, fit for duty, ln an average 6i 17'i days at the center, Headln? the volunteer workers at the center was Mrs. James T. Baldwin. Baldwin. Dr. Daniel Blain was in charge of the staff members of the United Slates Public Health ervice at the center. The center was conducted Jointly by the United Seamen's Service and the War Shipping Administration.
