pnoenix, az on May 3, 2008 at 9 a.m. Joseph Andrew Tallon, 82, of Phoe nix, Arizona, passed away on April 28, 2008. joe 1 anon was r- r- born on Februarv 28. 19261 on a farm near Webbwood. Ontario to James Peter Tallon and Mary Wat son Ellis. At over 12 pounds at birth he was nicknamed "Buster" and carried carried that moniker throughout his life. During the depression the family moved to Detroit. Michigan to find work. At 16 years of age he joined the U.S. Marines and was one of Edson's Raiders of the 1st Marine Di vision. He was involved in intense fighting in the S. Pacific including seven amphibious assaults. A true hero, he was wounded in battle and was awarded a medal of Valor. He fell deeply in love with Mary Jose Aquino and they married on November November 4, 1947 in Sudbury Ontario. They made their new home in Detroit and their love transcended time. Last year they celebrated their 60th wedding wedding anniversary. In 1980 Joe and Mary and their youngest son moved to Phoenix. He retired from the Gainey Ranch golf course in 1987. During nis retirement Joe oeugntea in spending time with familv espe cially his grandchildren. Joe suffered suffered a heart attack on Aoril 26th and passed away peacefully on the 28th. In the end his heart failed him but only because he had given so much of it away to his familv through the years. Joe is survived by Mary, his loving, devoted wife of over 60 years, daughter Cathy, sons Robert and Jeffrey, son in law Dean Brown, daughter in laws Nancy Benzinger (Robert) and Pam Tallon (Jeffrey), grandchildren Todd (Beth), Chris (Heidi) and Deana Brown, James Tallon, Caitlyn Tallon, Ricky and Christopher Allen, Peter, Jacob and Magen Benzinger and great granddaughter Gabriella Benzinger. Joe was preceded in death by his pa rents, his sister Doris Grayson, brother Jack and half brother Jim Ellis. Ellis. A service is scheduled for Friday, Friday, May 2nd at 2:00 PM at Shadow Mountain Mortuary.
